Car scrappage: the details
Q. What is the car scrappage scheme?
Introduced in April’s Budget, the car scrappage scheme means a £2,000 saving for owners who scrap their vehicles of 10 years and older and buy a brand new car.
Participation in the scheme by car dealers is voluntary – and you’ll be pleased to know that the vast majority of peugeot Dealers are onboard.
Q. Do I qualify for the discount?
Your car or LCV (up to 3.5 tonnes) must have been registered before February 2000, be registered with the DVLA, have a current MOT test certificate and have been registered to you for 12 continuous months.
Q. What are the benefits?
The ‘peace of mind’ benefits that come with a new car include improved reliability and safety, reduced running costs and better fuel economy.
Q. How will it work?
Customers will receive £1,000 from the government and another £1,000 from the car dealer. Coupled with peugeot’s great scrappage offers, there’s never been a better time to buy a new car.
Q. How can I get my car scrapped?
Simply take your old car to your participating peugeot Dealer, and they will take care of everything for you.
Q. Why has it been introduced?
It is intended to boost the UK car industry, which has been hard hit by the global recession. Similar car scrappage programmes have already been successfully launched in other European markets including Germany and France.
Q. Can I benefit from any other offers?
Of course. peugeot always has some great offers. And this means together with the £2,000 scrappage incentive, you could save thousands on a brand new peugeot.
But be quick. The scrappage scheme funds are limited, so claim your £2,000 while you can! |
