Remember the times you had the most fun as a kid? So do we. We built the MINI Convertible to recreate the good old days when you could have a whale of time just running around in the street. It’s just as much fun now as it was then, except you and your friends don’t have to go home when it gets dark.
The MINI Convertible is available in 6 thrilling variants: One, Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S, Cooper SD and John Cooper Works Convertible.
Now this is what a convertible should look like. The steep A-pillar on the MINI Convertible gives a real open-air feeling, and the great all-round view makes parking child’s play. You don’t even have to count the number of hours you spend with the top down: the optional openometer does it for you automatically.
Four seats. That’s four different perspectives on the city, plus space for a healthy amount of luggage. The luggage compartment has a surprisingly large capacity for a convertible, at up to 170 litres. And if you need even more, the rear seats fold down with a 50:50 split to give up to 660 litres of storage space.
Are you the sort of person who likes sprinkles on your ice cream? Well then MINI Option Packs are for you.
How’s this for starters? The heart of the MINI One Convertible is a formidable 98 hp/72 kW 1.6-litre engine and, providing fuel consumption of 49.6 miles per gallon, you’ll forget what a petrol station looks like. In the MINI Cooper, the 1.6-litre engine delivers 122hp/90kW while, thanks to turbo technology, the MINI Cooper D provides precisely 270Nm or torque to the front-wheels with combined-cycle fuel consumption of just 70.6 miles per gallon.
A turbocharger supplies compressed air to the engines of the MINI Cooper S Convertible and MINI Cooper SD Convertible, which in the diesel version delivers 143 hp/105 kW of power and 260 Nm of torque. The petrol version uses a twinscroll turbocharger to achieve an impressive maximum output of 184hp/135kW, generating up to 260Nm of torque with the overboost function.
The cream of the crop is the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible which has a 211hp/155kW, 1.6-litre engine.
The MINI Convertible is fitted as standard with four airbags: driver and passenger airbags protect the head and upper body in the event of a head-on collision, while head/thorax airbags in the seats reduce the risk of injuries to the head, chest and abdominal areas from side impacts for the driver and front passenger. Also included is an active roll-over protection system discreetly nestled behind the headrests. It deploys in approx. 150 milliseconds should a roll-over occur. You’re sure to experience a wide range of emotions in your MINI, though we can guarantee that you’ll never feel alone. Each model is packed full of ways to share the joy of MINI with the outside world. With MINI Connected, you can say hello to passing MINI drivers via Facebook or Twitter. It may seem unusual to some, but it’s a big part of life with a MINI – where drivers are connected by much more than a shared brand.
