Hostile environments are the natural habitat for the new The Ford Ranger which has been has been ruthlessly tested to ensure it can cope with everything that modern day life can throw at it. Its restyled front end makes the Ranger more aerodynamic, boosting fuel economy and efficiency. And its higher waistline gives the driver more protection.
The Ranger has a more streamlined body shape. This gives the vehicle a more contemporary look but also, more importantly, significantly improves fuel economy. Inside, the interior is more comfortable than ever, while still offering the durability that’s vital in a pick-up truck. The cabin of the Ranger has a contemporary, high tech look and feels reassuringly solid. While the materials are premium quality, they’re specially chosen to be hard-wearing and practical too. All were stringently tested before being specified, so you can use your Ranger with confidence even in the toughest working environments.
The Ranger has also been put to the test by some of the world’s most unforgiving judges, who gave it the International Pick-Up Award in 2013. These leading motoring journalists were unanimous in their decision, giving Ranger more points than the combined total for both the second and third-placed vehicles.
No doubt the judges were impressed by the extra power, delivered by a new line-up of advanced Duratorq diesel engines, which can help you transport a payload of up to 1,340 kg and tow up to 3,500 kg. At the same time, the engines provide improved fuel economy while meeting Euro Stage V emissions standards.
The Ranger features a new, improved engine range, which delivers more
power and improved fuel consumption. And hand in hand with better
economy levels, come lower emissions levels: the vehicle now achieves CO2 figures as low as 192g/Km.
The Ranger has a class-leading safety package, which includes everything
from standard driver and passenger airbags, side and curtain airbags
and a driver’s knee airbag to an advanced Ranger's Electronic Stability
Programme (EPS). That’s why it’s the first ever pick-up to be awarded a
Euro NCAP 5-star rating.
Ranger's Electronic Stability Programme (EPS) senses any deviations from your chosen driving line and automatically corrects your road position, helping you stay in control whatever the conditions. Below you’ll discover the benefits of the main advanced driving technologies which are part of ESP
Trailer Sway Control (TSA) detects ‘snaking’ or trailer sway and reduces the Ranger’s speed until the problem ceases, making towing more controlled and safer. Deceleration is achieved by reducing the engine’s torque and gradually increasing the brake pressure on all wheels.
Its security package is equally comprehensive, too. Every Ranger is fitted with a range of security features, including a standard Cat 1 alarm. For added peace of mind, all windows are etched with a unique ID code. This is linked to an International Security Register, which is manned 24 hours, 365 days a year.
