Increased comfort for a greater sense of thrill. A motorcycle that defined the classic touring bike segment has now reached the next stage of evolution: the new BMW R 1200 RT. Whether on your own or with a passenger: the new R 1200 RT is all about comfortable, relaxed riding on every tour. With fun, free-spirited performance, practical design and unsurpassed levels of comfort, the BMW R 1200 RT is a multiple award-winner and could well be the ultimate touring bike.
Normally you would expect a bike with this level of practicality to appear bulky or unwieldy, but BMW has managed to buck the trend with the R 1200 RT. Flowing lines and subtle colours ensure that the bike has a distinct aura of lightness and breezy performance – perfectly complementing the ride itself.
Shift Assistant Pro allows the rider to shift up and down without using the clutch or throttle valve. Another option available is ‘Dynamic’ riding mode, which guarantees maximum riding fun for sporty, dynamic motorcyclists. Also available as an optional extra: a central locking system which locks both cases by remote control, a cruise control system and lots more besides.
The new RT has a new air/water-cooled BMW boxer engine with even more torque and 125 bhp for powerful propulsion. Thanks to the highly active electronically controlled suspension system ASC, the machine is still very easy to control and offers stability on every country road.
The standard Rain and Road Models can also be activated at the press of a button, adapting the motorcycle perfectly to the weather conditions and road surface as required. The On-board Computer Pro and the familiar heated grips round off the range of standard equipment.
ABS is fitted in the RT as standard, with Automatic Stability Control (ASC) serving as an assistant to the rider in ensuring that control is maintained at all times. Not only that, but the windshield is tall enough to offer superb protection from any stray debris or adverse weather that may otherwise impact the safety of the rider.
